There are a few questions we always get asked! One of which is a question that is common across the board, from our retailers, to horse blanket laundries, to our customers. And as you probably guessed from the title of this post, that question is: “What are Your Best Sellers?”
This is a hard question to sometimes answer. Favorites change with the seasons, as well as personal opinions. Occasionally we get bombarded with an onslaught of orders from scents that are not some of our top selling products. However, I have compiled our top selling products, as well as what is most commonly ordered and re-ordered by our amazing retailers. You can also learn more about our top 3 products over on YouTube! So what are some of these top sellers…and why?
French Lavender Blanket Safe
It is no surprise that all of our top selling washes, are our Original Washes. French Lavender Blanket Safe is top of the list, from our customers, to retailers, and even our horse blanket laundries. This Lavender is not overpowering, it provides a very light scent which fades quickly. Blanket Safe is very considerate to all the the animals, and our washes intentionally do not leave lingering scents. If you are looking for a light floral scent, that is fresh, clean, and relaxing, French Lavender Blanket Safe is the wash for you.

Free & Clear Blanket Safe
After being asked on numerous occasions to create a wash with the same awesome cleaning power, but no scents or dyes, this Free & Clear wash became almost an instant top seller. We have found that many equestrians and pet owners, are very concerned about dyes and scents for not only their animals but themselves. While all of our washes are considered “Sensitive” washes, and perfect for sensitive skin of animals and humans, alike; some individuals like the extra reassurance…and we can’t blame them!
Free & Clear Blanket Safe Wash
Looking for a wash with no dyes or scents. Here is the perfect Blanket Safe for you. Packed with the same great cleaning power! US Shipping ONLY**Price includes Shipping**
Zesty Lemon Blanket Safe
There is so much to say about this Zesty Juicy Lemon! Wow. One of my personal top favorites, this fresh, clean, light, perfect lemon scent (in my opinion), is not overwhelming or too chemically. This is a perfect summer lemon scent, that leaves a very light lemon scent on the item washed. Once again, keep in mind the scents should fade quickly and never be overwhelming, strong, or super fragrant once dry. This wash is what we consider to be perfect in every way, from the scent to the cleaning power. If you are looking for a summer fan favorite, Zesty Lemon is the wash for you!

Thanks to the Coronavirus, us barn rats are over here continuing to practice social distancing. However, some of us have some extra time on our hands now that schools, businesses, and tack shops are closing to prevent spreading of the virus. So this is the perfect opportunity to spend more time in our happy place, and get all those odd and end barn chores completed. Barn chores never stop, so lets list a few tasks we can complete with some of the extra time we have on our hands, all while the rest of the US wastes time fighting over toilet paper, Lysol, and ground beef. Then, after reading through, list your ideas of some non-daily barn tasks we can complete during these next few weeks.
Barn Chores that Need Completing:
Deep cleaning feed tubs. Lets take a good scrub brush, and make those feed tubs shine. This may also be a perfect opportunity to replace any old/broken feed tubs with jagged edges or holes. We like these scrub brushes because of their range in sizes, perfect size for any feed tubs and water buckets.
Check your Emergency Box. NOW! It is a great time to check your emergency box, discard any outdated, expired, empty meds/supplies, and restock! Know what you need now, so when your vet comes to do their Spring/Summer vaccines you have a list and are ready to go! Don’t forget Banamine, Acepromazine, Bute, and SMZ’s are always staples to have on hand. As well as a working Thermometer, Self Adhering wraps, Gauze, Duct Tape, Band-aids and all of your supplies.
Doing Barn Laundry. You know all those fly sheets from last summer, all those heavy weight you aren’t using any more this Spring, those wraps and saddle pads that are still balled up from your last show or ride. Some of these nice spring days make for perfect drying days! We recommend our Blanket Safe products for all of your animal and horse wear needs. Our washes can be used on ANYTHING washable, and we also have a Wool & Fleece wash for your delicate fabrics, and a Fly Sheet Wash for those stain prone and hard to clean fabrics!
Power Washing Barn and Stall Mats. These have been the perfect day for a deep clean of the barn. Get out that pressure washers and get to it! Did you know that you could use a little bit of our Ultra Wash in your pressure washer for a deeper clean?
Cleaning and Conditioning Tack. Now is a great time to get out all your tack and start scrubbing! Start cleaning and conditioning your tack and boots for when shows start back up! We highly recommend Sterling Essentials Leather Conditioner and Cleaner. Find them at online at Sterling Essentials
Repairing Doors and Painting/ Touch-Ups. Keep your barn looking fresh, an easy way to do this is by touching up the barn every now and then with a little paint. Corners get worn from rubbing horses, barn doors get gnawed on. Keep it safe and fresh, by taking an hour to practice your painting skills, and do a little fixing and primping!
Hammering in Popped Nails. One of my favorite Spring activities, walking around the fence line and hammering in any popped nails. It is something so easy and so satisfying…and can save you hundreds of dollars in vet bills.
Scrubbing Water Buckets. Now, this is something that should be done daily, weekly, as much as possible…but for those of you that procrastinate, consider this your reminder. So what do you all use to scrub your water buckets/troughs? I tend to go in there with an old hard brush, however after a recent back surgery I prefer a toilet bowl brush (a NEW one….please, oh please dont use a used one! ). It adds a few inches to my arms and helps me get those extra inches without breaking my back bending over.
Cleaning out Brushes. All that dirt, dust and hair build up in brushes is kind of crazy! I highly recommend some baby shampoo and a scrub board. Then, go to town (figuratively, not literally …lol) on your brushes, while you have the chance!
Organizing your Tack Trunk. I don’t know about you, but this is something I am not good at! I take things out, toss things in, and everything becomes scrambled! It is time to toss all that stuff you don’t use, don’t need, and organize the stuff you have left. Ya know, those random bits, bobs, snaps, broken pieces.
Gathering all your Clipper Blades. After all that clipping this Fall, Winter, and Spring, it is time to gather up any dull and dirty clipper blades and have them sent for a deep cleaning and sharpening!
Replacing Snaps that have Broken. We use snaps everywhere in a barn, from halters, to gates, feed buckets, stall doors, cross ties. Plus, it’s always helpful to have a handful of double ended snaps on hand!
Check your Electric Fence. Have you checked to see if your electric fence is functioning? Ask a non-horsey friend (you don’t mind losing) to stop over to the barn… you can do the rest. (LOL!)
After a quick, yet busy holiday season, we are excited to get back to some of these amazing women behind the equestrian brands. The first woman we will be focusing on in 2020 is Teal Shoop, the business owner of a line of leather care products. Her products are made in the Pacific Northwest near Portland Oregon, and can be found on the complete other side of the US, in our personal barn. We started using her products before I knew or insta-met Teal…so even we were excited to learn a little more about the amazing person behind a brand that we use!
So without further ado, let’s introduce you to Teal Shoop, the amazing lady boss behind the Sterling Essentials Leather Care Brand. I personally love her merchandise, because just like the Blanket Safe products, they avoid the use of harmful skin irritating chemicals. They are both gentle and non-toxic. Plus both of us created our products because of an issue with our OWN horses! While I have not met her in person, I could feel that very familiar energy from Teal that I have. I love the fact that she also believes that there can be a high end super-effective, quality product, without the use of harsh, irritating, or unsafe ingredients.
About Sterling Essentials, llc
After owning a horse who’s skin was becoming irritated and sometimes breaking out in hives around the girth area and face, Teal discovered how delicate her horse’s skin really was. She went on a search for a safe and gentle leather care product that would effectively nurture the leather as well as keep away mold and mildew, a common problem in the cold wet Pacific Northwest winter. Teal realized the market was lacking leather care products that did not contain harsh or potentially unsafe ingredients, so Teal got to work and created her own. After testing and trials, Sterling Essentials leather care products broke into the equestrian market place at Gallops Saddlery in Oregon, in 2015.
Teal Shoop is actually an engineer by trade. She thoroughly enjoyed the process of creating her products, even though it wasn’t always easy. Teal mentions she had fun researching, formulating, testing, and even producing product design. However, talking to people about her products and business came as a struggle, as Teal considers herself an introvert. After many bathroom pep talks, and the help of several supportive and encouraging individuals; Teal learned that she had to just be brave and jump in with both feet! In the near future, Teal hopes to see her products being featured around the globe. She continues to work hard to support fellow riders and the equestrian sport with new and innovative products.
So, how did Sterling Essentials get their name? They wanted to create a name that would convey the classiness and high quality that their brand would represent. So, with the help of her husband (and co-founder), and Teal’s middle name, the brand was born. The logo was created with the help of a designer, and lots of family and friends’ opinions. Fun fact, the logo that is currently used was not Teal’s first choice for logo, however she now has no regrets over the decision. If you ask Teal to pick her most favorite product in the Sterling Essentials brand, she would pick her flag ship product, the Leather Cleaner. It was the product that started them off, the product that embodies all that Sterling Essentials stands for, and a product that is unlike any other on the market.
About Teal Shoop
Teal was only a few years old when she first got bit by the horse bug! At 9 years old she received riding lessons for her birthday. She can still recall how excited she was and even the first horse she had a lesson on. O’Malley, a solid bay quarter horse gelding, with the biggest, and most gentle eyes. After that first lesson, she made sure to ride as often as she could get the chance. She took the opportunity to try her hand at western, hunt seat, and currently rides at a hunter/jumper barn. Currently, Teal is horseless, after recently selling her beautiful gelding. However, this allows her explore varied disciplines and equestrian sports, as well as focus more on her family and business.
Going in Deep with Teal Shoop
What makes YOU Unique? Something that is a little quirky, but really cheers me up is the smell of sun-warmed pine needles! It is so relaxing, and reminds me of home.
What is something not everyone knows about you? I love to bake bread from scratch! Unfortunately I don’t have time to do it that often. But, there is something so fulfilling about pulling a warm, yummy, smells-oh-so-good loaf from the oven!
What would you tell your younger self? I would tell her to listen to her gut. Also, not to worry so much about what others may think of her. I’ve had to learn that when others judge me, this is really a reflection of them and who they are; nothing to do with me. Fear of judgement impacts us all, and it’s been a challenge for me to figure out how to overcome it. There’s no doubt that there are times when this has held me back, and it shouldn’t have. I’d tell myself to be honest with myself, to act fearless even if I’m not, and to just GO FOR IT!
Do you have a mantra you love, or live by? Have a plan.
What show do you like to binge watch? If I have time, I enjoy watching the original Magnum, P.I. with Tom Selleck. Who doesn’t crave their own private beach in Hawaii?
What is your favorite word? “Hunky dunky”
What profession other than your own would you attempt for a week? I would love to try being a College Professor.
What food could you not live without? Oh so many things could be on this list…and it would be a long list, but I do love a good cheeseburger (handmade with some seriously good cheddar). YUM!
How do you take your coffee/tea? I have never jumped onto the coffee bandwagon, but I am definitely a tea person. I enjoy a nice cup either plain, with a little honey, or sometimes a tiny splash of milk.
What book did you read last? I just finished up Murder in the CIA by Margaret Truman. I love curling up with a good mystery!
What is something you would like people to remember about you, and/or your brand? Sterling Essentials premium all natural, essential oil powered leather care products are the trusted must-have for discerning equestrians everywhere. Animal friendly, formulated to match the pH of leather to prevent premature degradation; and powered by essential oils to prevent mold/mildew. Our high quality products are widely acclaimed by top riders and amateurs alike, as the first choice in keeping leather and tack happy and healthy.
We hope you have enjoyed learning about Teal and Sterling Essentials, just as much as we have. I think it is fantastic that there are other products and businesses just like ours at Blanket Safe. Businesses that continue to make, assemble and package each product at their headquarters, before sending out to their new homes. Teal loves to hear how her products have also solved the struggles of other horse owners; the same issues that lead to the creation of the Sterling Essential products. It was wonderful to get to know Teal a little more personally, and I hope you took away plenty too!
We hope you join us next time for another look inside the life of another woman behind an amazing equestrian brand. Discover her dream and the adventure she has experienced. Until then, find more posts like this one, HERE.
I am so excited to feature this next amazing boss lady in our Women in Equestrian Business post. Melodie Weintraut, like myself is a mom, a girlfriend to her awesome husband and a professional adult amateur. She works her booty off as a professional poultry inspector, and has grown a successful and creative business, Bays4DaysCrochet. PHEW!
I met Melodie a few years ago. Outside of the business world; her positive, realistic, down-to-earth personality was a breath of fresh air! Now my horse is decked out in his gorgeous grey, black and bling bonnet. All of her products are made to order, to match your colors, your horse, and your style. Melodie has such a fun spunky style, this post is sure to relate to you, make you giggle, and/or make you scratch your head. Either way make sure to check her gorgeous pieces of work out at Bays4DaysCrochet, she wont disappoint!
While Melodie waited to land her first “big girl job”; she taught her self to crochet (thanks to YouTube). She took that new found love of crocheting to make her own horse bonnet design. Melodie’s logo however was created by her husband. After a rough day at Grad School, he created this Tim Burton-esque picture of Quincy (her heart horse). After mastering her own pattern, she released Quincy to strut his stuff down the barn aisle…and if you’ve seen the bonnets Melodie creates, it is no wonder that barn friends now had bonnet envy! Melodie’s style is unique and her pattern and logo are 100% her own. She makes that entire bonnet without making a single cut (besides the final cut).
While Melodie claims she isn’t the “typical” people person; she can definitely strike up a connection with pretty much anyone who talks about animals. She loves talking to people who are designing their bonnet, discovering colors they love, what colors bring out the eyes of their chestnut mare, adding personalized ears, and grasping the ideas of what you as a horse owner, lover, and rider would dream of if you are to get a bonnet. However, it wasn’t all horses, unicorns and pink bonnets. Melodie noticed that other creators were pricing themselves very low. However, while Melodie’s prices would not be that low, her prices reflect the hand made work, dedication, and passion that she crochets into every inch of the bonnets she creates.
Melodie realizes that not everyone appreciates the justification of her reasoning, but she believes that while money doesn’t grow on trees, her time, quality and customization doesn’t either. In 5 years, Melodie would love to see some her teens/young adult audience sporting her bonnets at some major shows. “It would be so cool to hop on Facebook Groups, Eventing Nation, etc and seeing a pair going out, being successful, and wearing my product”. But before then, if her amazing bonnets can just continue to pay her monthly feed bill, she will continue to do a happy dance.
About Melodie Weintraut
Melodie, her family and her business are all based on Maryland’s beautiful Eastern Shore #madeinMD. She has always loved horses, however didn’t start riding until she was about 18, her Freshman year of college. Currently she is dancing around the sandbox with her OTTB, Hokie (yes….a good old VT Grad), and Pixie, her 11 year old Oldenburg pony. Along with her 2 equine friends, she raises rabbits, has 3 dogs and 2 cats! Melodie is totally a unique chick, not only is she down to earth, but she is also honest…to a fault. If you don’t want her honest opinion about your horse, don’s ask her for her thoughts #warning.
Let’s Get a Little Personal with Melodie Weintraut
What is something not everyone knows about you? Melodie applied to vet school 15 times, over the course of 3 admission cycles, Not once was she asked to sit for an interview.
What is something you would tell your younger self? “I’d tell myself not to worry so much about things. I used to have anxiety with my old horse, about things that hadn’t happened/things that never came to pass. Looking back, I should have just ridden the horse I had”. Other than that, she would also tell her younger self to not put up with bully trainers.
What mantra you live by? Don’t focusing so much on making a living, that you forget to make a life.
What is the last show you binge watched? “I don’t watch a whole lot of TV, but I am currently listening to Crime Junkie, and Up and Vanished podcasts.”
What is the last book you read? She’s not sure. “Other than baby books for my adorable daughter. Other than that, no clue.”
What is your favorite word? Tedious
What profession other than your own would you attempt for a week? A Veterinarian
What is your favorite food? Wawa Soft Pretzels and Pepsi
How do you take your Coffee? With a LOT of International Delight Creamer #butt-ton
What is something you want people to remember about your brand? There is a real human, mom boss, behind the bonnet that makes your horse looks amazing! Melodie is the only one, crocheting the body, tucking in the ends, sewing on that bling, and cutting out the ears and vinyl, and pressing it on. A real person is messaging you back and forth about time lines so you can get your bonnet in time for your big show.
In Conclusion with Melodie Weintraut of Bays4DaysCrochet
Melodie is no stranger to working hard, facing setbacks, and changing dreams; so she has become used to the idea that maybe the universe is trying to tell her something. Instead of making her dreams a possibility, she makes your bonnet dreams a possibility. She handcrafts and designs each one from scratch and Melodie puts her heart, her love, and her best wishes into each custom bonnet for your horse. Never once has she been afraid of failure, but faced it head on and made a decision to continue on. If you haven’t met Melodie, or seen her designs you are missing out. I can tell you from experience, when putting one of her bonnets on your horse, you will be proud; just like she is with each of her products she mails you with love.

How many washes can you get out of a 32oz bottle?
Our washes are done by loads, not by amount of blankets. It is recommended to use 6oz-8oz of wash per load. More or less depending on the amount of blankets being washed in the machine, and amount of soiling. While we say you can use more or less as needed, we never recommend more than 8oz of wash. Therefore, you should get at least 4 loads of wash completed.
As a reference, I only use approximately 4-6oz of soap per laundry load. I am able to wash: 2 average size heavy weights, or 3 average size mediums, or 4-5 average size light weight blankets in the machine at a time. So therefore, I am able to get 5-8 loads of wash done with a 32oz bottle.
How many blankets does a 32oz bottle of Spray-On Water-repellent treat?
It should treat at least 4 blankets. It greatly depends on the size of the blanket you are treating, and since everyone has a range of blanket sizes, it is hard to be specific. Blankets should be freshly clean, and damp (but not soaking wet, as you don’t want your solution running off) when being used. Spray onto the blanket until thoroughly coated, let dry and cure…which may take up to 72 hours to achieve full results. Then store away for the season until ready to use.
Does the Fly Sheet Wash have fly repelling properties?
NO. The fly sheet wash is different than our regular Zesty Lemon wash as it has added natural cleaning boosters. We were able to add these cleaning boosters since fly sheets do not have a water-repelling treatment which we work so hard to protect with our regular washes. Fly sheets are also challenging to get clean, so we have added a natural, gentle dirt cleaning booster made of soy. There are NO peroxides, NO bleaches, NO whiteners, NO “oxygen” powered boosters. Washing in cold water is still recommended, as we recommend with all pet/horse wear. Our fly sheet spray however, is a fly repellent that works by spraying directly onto the fly sheet.
*We have not tested this product on turnout sheets or blankets with waterproofing. While we believe it would be safe, we do not recommend.
What kind of horse or pet wear can I wash?
(Almost) Anything that is washable, by hand or by machine can be washed in Blanket Safe. It can be safely used on fly sheets, horse blankets (stable and turnouts), wraps, boots, washable girths, saddle pads, fly masks, your blankets, fleece and wool, dog beds, your cloths, it can be added to spot cleaners and you can clean your truck carpets. The uses are endless, want to put in a spray bottle and use as a fabric cleaner…go for it.
Once dry, Blanket Safe is considered hypoallergenic. We understand that horses are always trying to prove us wrong, and we always have that one horse that is allergic to the air it breathes, so we like to say “considered” for that one rare horse.
How can I get better results when washing at home?
Check out this article . This quick read will break down how we recommend using Blanket Safe and washing.
How Can I wash my Horse Wear?
You can wash your horse wear by hand or by machine. We find that it works best in an industrial strength machine that can be found at a laundromat. (please be considerate, spray off any excess dirt or mud before using a laundromat). On a positive note, the anti-bacterial properties of Blanket Safe works to clean the machine as well after use.
Some people may chose to wash horse wear by hand, or in a muck tub. I suggest using this awesome tool HERE to help you do that!!
Will my Horse Blanket be Waterproof after using Blanket Safe
Depends on what you consider Waterproof. Blanket Safe products are designed to treat breathable fabrics, and keep those breathable fabrics functioning. We do not use wax or silicone ingredients, so what our products do is coat the individual fiber, rather than coating the entire fabric as a whole (like a shell).
Because blankets are made from breathable fabric, it makes waterproofing VERY Difficult, and pretty impossible if treated with the correct product, and safely. What Blanket Safe products will do is increase the amount of time that a horse blanket can be in the wet before the blanket starts absorbing water. While the top layer may appear wet, most turn out blankets are also equip with an inner waterproof barrier to help slow the process. Blanket Safe products will help to keep that barrier intact as well. We like to relate the waterproofing of a horse blanket, to that of a fire door. A fire door is NOT fireproof, but it will increase the amount of time you have to get out in an emergency situation, before that door is engulfed.
The next of our Women in Equestrian Business will not disappoint! I am so excited not only about this wonderful lady, but I sing the praises about this product daily! By the end of this post I hope you feel that you personally know Cheryl Dauphin, just as much as you will recognize her colorful, vibrant, and perfect barn and home tool!
At the beginning of 2018, I personally met Cheryl and her made-by-hand products. Since then they have not only been a staple in our barn for all of our horses….but also in our home AND in my business. The EquiGroomers often have a way of wandering off in the business (it just so happens that most of the awesome ladies that work with me, also have horses, dogs, cats, rabbits too!) Cheryl has also changed the way my pets and animals view grooming time.
About THE EquiGroomer
After Cheryl Dauphin retired as independent graphic designer, she decided to devote her time to her horse and improving her riding skills. In doing so, she realized her horse’s skin was very sensitive to the large teeth of a shedding tool. Shedding stones work for a little while, but Cheryl realized they did not last long, and were really messy. This left Cheryl in a predicament…but not for long! Tenaciously she came up with a prototype of the EquiGroomer and also eventually designed the logo. She tried it on her horse with great success and allowed other lucky barn members to try it too.
What makes this product completely unique, (and why it has been such a hit around our home, barn, and business) is that Cheryl has designed this tool to be similar to how a cat’s tongue grooms fur. The blade itself does not remove hair by friction or pulling hair out. In fact, the little teeth only remove scaly, dead hairs. Plus, the teeth of this blade are so petite that they do not actually touch the skin. Yet they are still long enough to bring the natural oils found at the root of the hair, up through the hair to help with coat and fur heath. The groomer’s colors are bright and cheerful. The wooden handle is painted with 3 coats of exterior grade paint making it impervious to bacteria, and an epoxy finish is applied to the blade which wards off rust and prevents dulling.
It is clear that Cheryl has taking all efforts to make the EquiGroomer tools the epitome of perfection. While Cheryl thoroughly enjoys showing off her products, describing the benefits, demonstrating the use, and connecting with customers….selling is not her strong suit. Cheryl mentions she does not enjoy cold calling or making sales over the phone, which frankly is not that uncommon! However, what makes up for that, is a schedule that she loves. She balances time manufacturing and her business related tasks, with her time in the barn. Cheryl has been in business for slightly over 5 years, and in that time has designed her brand to focus on customer satisfaction, quality of products, and happy pets. She feels that there is no need to change that for the next happy 5 years.
About Cheryl Dauphin
Cheryl and her business headquarters are located in Glastonbury Connecticut, and her products are manufactured locally. Labels, wrapping, and shipping of the EquiGroomer are all done by hand by Cheryl. She also finds time to juggle marketing and customer relations, all before heading to the barn. While it may be hard to pick favorites, Cheryl’s favorite is the 5″ EquiGroomer. It has made so many pet owners live’s easier and so many fur babies happier during grooming time. We asked Cheryl when she first fell in love with horses. It turns out, there wasn’t a time where she lacked the fascination and desire to ride.
Her mother recently discovered an old slide of Cheryl on the back of a horse, she was probably about 3 years old at the time. As a child, she took many summer vacations to her grandparents in Maine, and she would beg for the neighbors to pony her around on their horse. The first books she remembers reading are Misty of Chincoteague and Black Beauty. There is no exact time when the passion began, but the journey continues with her 12 year old registered Holsteiner, Clifford. This show jumper is now enjoying his retired life and lighter riding after an injury, but that doesn’t get Cheryl down. Optimist Cheryl welcomed the change of pace, and now she and Clifford enjoy trail rides and spending relaxing days together.
Let’s Get a Little Personal with Cheryl Dauphin
What is something not everyone knows about you? I love being the center of attention, but if given the option of going to a party OR relaxing on the couch…I would choose the latter!
What is something you would tell your younger self? Don’t worry so much about what others think of you, what is really important is how you think of yourself! Too much time is wasted on things that don’t truly matter.
What is a Mantra you live by? Don’t sweat the small stuff!
What was the last show you binge watched? American Pickers…don’t ask why I find that show so entertaining. I sat through what may have been 4 hours of repeats and still enjoyed watching it!
What is the last book you read? Twelve Years a Slave
What’s your favorite word? Indeed
What profession other than your own would you attempt for a week? I’ve tried a number of things in the past, everything from retail sales, landscape designer, even seminar instructor. However, I think I would love to try to be a Pet Adoption Coordinator at a no kill shelter.
What is your favorite food? Popcorn, Popcorn, Popcorn! If I had my choice I would eat it for dinner….every day of the week, I would! I love Popcorn!
How do you take your Coffee? I take my morning Starbuck’s Espresso black with one Splenda.
What is something you want people to remember about your brand? Each EquiGroomer or WaterWisk is assembled by hand, made locally, and uses the highest quality materials available. I hand label and wrap each one, and I am solely responsible for customer relations, shipping, marketing. There is pride and love that goes into each EquiGroomer. It makes me feel even better when I know that every “hooman” that uses the brush on their animals is not only improving the grooming experience, but also increasing the quality time they spend with their pets.
In Conclusion with Cheryl Dauphin of EquiGroomer
We have really enjoyed getting to know Cheryl, and learning about the outpouring of positivity and love that goes into her life and products. It is amazing how similar we all are regardless of background, jobs, or location. In learning more about these awesome ladies, it reminds me that we are all in this equestrian world together! Like I mentioned before, at Blanket Safe we use these products daily for not only horse and pet grooming, but also removing excess hair from saddle pads and fleece. Frankly, next time I pick up my EquiGroomer or WaterWisk, I will have more appreciation of the time, care, love, and passion that went into it!

We are so excited to start out our series of “Women in Equestrian Business”, and we are leading off this series with a BANG! Most of you may not know Carly Prosser, but I hope you all know Cavali Club….and my goal is that you all feel like Carly’s besties by the end of this post.
We were fortunate enough to insta-meet Carly in Spring 2019, and this amazing lady blew us away. We are lucky to have her as a fellow equestrian colleague with her fun, outgoing, vivacious personality. But Carly Prosser is way more than just Cavali Club, and we are so excited that she has allowed us to snoop inside her life; and her likes, dislikes, and hidden secrets about herself and her business!
A Little About The Cavali Club
Carly Prosser hails from Atlanta Georgia, where her business is also based. She started Cavali Club after purchasing her first horse Rudy. Being completely underwhelmed by the brands available at the large equestrian retailers, she felt that a subscription box which incorporated many of the innovative brands she had been finding on Instagram would be amazing! However, she couldn’t find such a thing….so she started it herself! Carly helps brands to emerge in the equestrian community, and allows every day equestrians to discover brands they may not have known about. Cavali Club continues to successfully meet their business mission by “Introducing equestrians everywhere to their new favorite products, while lifting up our fellow equestrian businesses in the process”.
Cavali Club’s logo and brand are polished, yet relate-able. The name came about because of the Italian word for Horses and the idea of creating a community around the box itself. However, Carly faced one problem. There is a popular night club in Dubai named “Cavalli Club”, but typical Carly, she didn’t let that stand in the way. She figured dropping that extra “L” would make her unique and cool! Plus, for those that just can’t spell the awesome club’s name anyway…she get’s tagged in their posts! In 5 years she hopes to grow and increase diversity of the memberships within N. America. She would like to add customization’s to the subscription experience based on the discovery platform, and make it perfect for every equestrian, regardless of discipline or location. Eventually, Carly hopes to start testing the idea in the European market.
The business of Cavali Club has not always been so easy. Because the subscription has so many facets, it can be very logistically challenging. Because of juggling and balancing timelines, education, technology, and so many more problems, it hasn’t been an easy road. However, what was easy for Carly, was connecting with fellow equestrian businesses, and conveying the excitement of the concept of the box itself. She quickly realized that the excitement about her product was contagious.
A Little about Carly Prosser
Carly began in the equestrian world, as an equestrian herself. For as long as she can remember, she loved horses….and it may have all began during her first riding experience at a dude ranch in Montana when she was three. She never owned horses growing up, but as far as she can remember…has always loved horses! It wasn’t until Carly was in her 20’s that she could finally purchase her first of two amazing horses, Rudy. He is a 16 year old tb/Oldenburg cross, dressage horse. Then there is 3 year old Monty, the next dressage prospect. Carly however may have always loved horses, but didn’t start out in an equestrian business. She actually started her career at a digital marketing startup. In fact, she credit’s that job to making her savvy and scrappy when it comes to advertising, which has really been an instrumental skill in growing Cavali Club.
